Ben Evans

Soon after I'd created my first website, I realised that if I wanted you to enjoy it, you'd have to be able to find it first.

So began my journey into SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation as it's otherwise known.

Put simply, it's a cover-all term for the magic that goes on behind the scenes to ensure a website appears high on the list at Google & friends without paying them directly.

With studies showing that many time-stretched browsers only see the first few links, this is important business.

It starts with the words themselves, ensuring that the right keywords are used to give an idea about the site.

It then hinges on links to the site, showing other people have enjoyed what you've got to offer.

It gets complicated in the various weightings that are applied to calculate this; a link from the BBC counts for more than a link that you've agreed to swap with a friend's site.

I've now got to the stage where I'm pretty confident with this. There's plenty of free information available online, but if you'd like me to do the hard work for you, just get in touch. I can be reached at ben@benevansphotography.com
